Jane is a semi-abstract expressionist artist celebrating the sky and water we live in and the dogs and people we love.

Her paintings gravitate to the peace and stability of strong horizon lines, with sky and water bringing their gorgeous energy.

behind the work

Each of my paintings is the feeling of what I see— in the sky, in water, in the dogs and people I love.
My work is a practice of ‘taking in the good,’ of being present to fully notice and hold the energy of what I see.

I start each piece with underpainting, warm yellow and coral tones for light, plus a mantra on repeat across the canvas to build in ‘taking in the good.’ Look closely and you’ll see ‘taking in the good’ scribbles peeking through layers of color.

How grateful I am for all the good and to be able to paint it.
My hope with each piece is that you feel your own version of the light, joy, gratitude, and centeredness here for all of us in these everyday extraordinary gifts.

Ozzy: ‘Cause You’re a Sky

We call our Ozzy “the David Hockney of dogs” — a master teacher in the art of seeing, of becoming one with the sky, water, every shift of sand and grass.

The underpainting here: cause you’re a sky (h/t to Cold Play). Different words, same intent — taking in the good.
